Mark Elstad
Lead Guitar & Vocals

Mark Elstad began his college studies as a ski bum and music major, playing trombone professionally in orchestras and jazz groups in Minnesota. He eventually opted for a career in medicine, becoming a pulmonary/critical care specialist at the VA Medical Center and the University of Utah. Mark took up the guitar after a mere 25 year hiatus from music.

Deb Elstad
Keyboards, Harmonica, & Vocals

Deb Elstad is a life-long vocalist and pianist. She sang in various choirs and a Manhattan Transfer-style vocal group in college. Her career path went from dancer/theatre director to travel to computers. She currently is owner of a Web design, development and software company CentralPoint Systems. A new synthesizer led her into rock 'n' roll.

Jeff Kurrus
Bass Guitar & Vocals

Bass player Jeff Kurrus played in a variety of rock 'n' roll groups in high school, college, and medical school. He took some time off to become a pulmonary/critical care physician and is now in private practice at St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake. Lured back to playing by his friends in the band, Jeff was thrilled to have a reason to buy more gear and play with a five, not just four, string bass.

Stacey Shaffer
Percussion & Vocals

Stacey Shaffer earned her chops singing and playing jazz drums in high school and college. Stacey established a career in intensive-care nursing and has her Masters degree. Her voice, congas, and various percussion sounds are a key component of the Stella sound.

Bill Morrison

Bill Morrison hails from upstate New York, where he spent his early years in drum & bugle corps and rock 'n' roll groups. After a stint playing drums in the Army, Bill pursued a long career with American Airlines but is now finding retirement to his liking. He has performed with several notable rock and blues bands in Salt Lake since the mid-1980's. Bill has more drum kits than people in Utah have kids.

Andy Weyrich
Rhythm Guitar & Vocals

Andy Weyrich grew up in a church-music environment (his father is a Episcopal priest). In college he focused on baseball, academics, and fraternity shenanigans. In his day job he is a PhD biomedical researcher and anatomy teacher at the University of Utah. Andy plays guitar and has written many of Stella's original songs.

Pete Marshall
Sound Engineer, Bass and Guitar

Pete makes Stella sound great using those fabulous day-job skills honed as an engineer.  Pete loves to play bass and steps in regularly on bass (can't anyone ?) and sometimes guitar.  Pete hails from Minnesota where he grew up playing in rock 'n roll bands.
